The 80's

Music has always been a part of Dean's family. His father was a professional musician for over 30 years and immediately recognized Dean's talent. When he was only six years old, Dean actually wrote the lyrics and music for his first track. And not only that, he even recorded it to a tape and presented the product to his parents. It was far more than a simple child's play, it was the beginning.

His dad started tutoring him at home and at the age of 11, he started attending music classes, learned to play and read notes and in the following years, he already toured Europe as part of the music school band.

The 90's

After several years, the touring and the stress with school became too much for a teenager. Dean left the school and took a long break from music. In the meantime, he started attending college and thinking about the future. Whenever this subject came up, Dean had only one wish on his mind - he wanted to become a music producer. But, regular education won't get you far in the music industry. He had the knowledge, the chance to follow his dreams, but how do you really become a producer?

Back in the 90's, a record label always asked for a demo tape. He either wanted to get a song signed by a publisher or develop a relationship with other producers. Unfortunately, 13 major record labels turned him down. He really didn't have a unique style, but on the other side, he wanted to show his versatility. Dance, Pop, Ambient, whatever the music genre, Dean was up to it. No one was ready to listen. He came close to a release in Germany, but the producers eventually decided to abandon the track. But Dean wouldn't take no for an answer. He kept on writing material and waiting for the opportunity. Unfortunately, he had to take a job in order to survive and finance his greatest passion - music.

Year 2000 and today

Everybody thought, the year 2000 would be the end of the world. But not for Dean. his life actually just begun. Those were the early days of the Internet and he found a great opportunity to promote himself. Learning some basic html lines, Dean set up his own web page and started streaming his own tracks.

Soon after that, he was given the opportunity to remix one of the Slovenian top bands at the moment. The remix became a huge airplay and club hit. New doors have opened, new musicians started asking him for remixes and complete productions. He even became a personal assistant to a huge world star singer.

Dean started learning video production, video editing, operating the camera and landed a video editor job on a three year's series on a national TV.

Years have passed, Dean started several own musical projects, some of them released worldwide and is looking back at over 250 sound recordings and over 100 video projects. (year 2009).

In 2008, Dean de Lucca entered the Top50 Airplay list on spot Nr.42 among the most played composers.

These days, Dean is working as freelance music composer with several publishing contracts around the globe, music remixer and producer. In the video sector, he still works as producer and editor, even took over several Internet projects and discovered passion for photography.

Dean has his own sound and approach to making music. He does not want to be tied down to one single music genre. That makes him unique and ready for any kind of assignment. A dance remix, a pop track, music for commercials and movies, background music for radio stations... There are endless possibilities.
